How IT ALL BEGAN…
Hi there…
I’m Kiera, the owner of, and lady behind, Pippin Toys. I’m a wife and Mum of one.
As always, my family is the reason and inspiration for what I do and choosing to start my little biz was no different. Pippin Toys was launched in August 2022, but the idea was born shortly after birthing my daughter in August 2021.
I am a qualified Foundation Phase Teacher and learning through play has always been something I am passionate about. When I became a Mum, the passion for building strong foundations in knowledge, in a fun manner, deepened.
I felt strongly that I wanted my child to play with quality, educational toys, but it worried me that I wouldn’t be able to afford it and it seemed a great waste to purchase toys that would be used so briefly before they were no longer suitable or fun anymore.
I expressed this concern to my sister, who is also a qualified Foundation Phase Teacher, and a Mum of 3. Her youngest being only 2 months younger than my own daughter.
We decided that we’d share the costs by buying and sharing our ‘good quality’ toys. After giving it some thought, and recruiting our pregnant younger sister, I wondered why more people don’t do this and that is how the idea of Pippin Toys was birthed into being.
I discussed my new business venture with a good friend of mine, a home-schooling Mum, who gave me the idea of homeschooling resource rentals. She had been desperately looking to lease more readers for her boys, but couldn’t find someone to lease from. A few other homeschooling Mums confirmed this and so our second wing of Pippin Toys was born – Pippin Toys Resource Rentals.
